Service Description:

The European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) supports, amongst other priorities, Community-led Local Development in coastal areas. This involves delegating funds and decision-making to local partnerships called fisheries Local Action Groups (LAGs). These include representatives of the fisheries sector and other local private and public stakeholders related to the blue economy.

There are over 300 EMFAF-supported LAGs in Europe. Each designs and implements a local development strategy to address their area´s needs be they economic, social and/or environmental. Based on their strategy, the LAGs select and provide funding to local projects that contribute to local development in their areas.
